NSCDC Issues Caution to Personnel Regarding Proper Handling of Weapons and Ammunition

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a warning to its personnel responsible for handling arms and ammunition, urging them to effectively discharge their duties.

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General, stressed the importance of armories and unit commanders following the standard operating procedures of the corps and adhering to global best practices.

A strategic gathering was organized at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja, assembling armories and unit commanders from different formations nationwide.

CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, communicated Audi’s resolute position on the efficient oversight of arms and ammunition within the Corps.

Audi issued a stern caution to personnel involved in any mishandling of arms and ammunition, underscoring that severe measures would be taken against such misconduct. He stressed the crucial importance of maintaining accurate records of all movements related to arms and ammunition, emphasizing the necessity for regular briefings to be provided to both state and national commandants regarding armament matters.

Moreover, Audi highlighted the prerequisite that appointed armourers and unit commanders must have undergone weapon training, and they should be selected from general duty officers. He reassured the participants of the administration’s unwavering commitment to ongoing training and reiterated the meeting’s significance in fortifying the NSCDC’s position and enhancing its overall performance to effectively fulfill its mandate.
