He was awarded the best-graduating student of the Department of Telecommunication which is his sub-discipline.

Abdulhameed Olobada shares his inspiring journey with Ifuture Connect how it took him seven years before he could graduate.

Let’s learn together from his inspiring journey

How Abdulhameed Olobada FUNAAB journey started

As I reflect on my journey through FUNAAB, I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering support of my family, friends, mentors, and lecturers who believed in me every step of the way.

My journey in FUNAAB started March 13 201 7, you might be wandering why it took me seven years before I could graduate.

Abdulhameed Olobada journey as a physics student

When I gained admission into FUNAAB i was admitted into the department of Physics where I spent two transformative years before finding my true calling in the department of electrical and electronics engineering.

Though initially navigating a different academic path, those years in physics were invaluable, shaping my analytical thinking and laying the foundation for my eventual transition.

My decision was met with skepticism from many, because switching to electrical engineering meant I had start anew from 200 level and I would have to invest an additional 4 sessions in the university, compared to the 2 sessions I would have spent had I continued in the department of physics.

The road ahead was challenging, and doubts lingered, but I remained steadfast in my pursuit of excellence. The transition demanded resilience, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in my capabilities.

The road ahead would have been tougher if I didn’t have the support of friend Atere James. James also made a similar switch from the department of Physics to electrical and electronics engineering, albeit at the end of our first year and i am always grateful wherever I remember the role he played in my academic journey.

Joining the faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering marked the beginning of a transformative journey—one defined by perseverance, dedication, and unwavering commitment.

I drew strength from my conviction and a deep-seated desire to realize my full potential. Despite the obstacles, I embraced the opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of engineering, driven by a fervent desire to make a meaningful impact in the field.

As I navigated through the rigorous curriculum and engaged in hands-on learning experiences, I discovered a sense of purpose and fulfillment that fueled my determination to succeed.

Studying electrical engineering was much more than just a profession to me it was a passion I lived and breath for and never for once did I regret switching to the department of electrical and electronics engineering because I was having fun with what I was studying even though the series of industrial actions in between the semesters made the journey longer.

Today, as I stand on the threshold of graduation, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the challenges that shaped my journey. The sacrifices made, the doubts overcome, and the risks taken have all contributed to my growth and development as a scholar and as an individual.
