Safeguard Your Future through Skill Development – DG NYSC Urges Corps Members

Corps Members Advised to Seize NYSC Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Skill Acquisition

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), urged prospective Corps Members of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream One deployed to Kwara State to leverage the service year to develop skills through the NYSC Entrepreneurship Development program.

Speaking during his visit to their Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, General Ahmed emphasized the importance of becoming employers of labor instead of pursuing scarce salaried positions.

He highlighted the success stories of past Corps Members who utilized their service year to acquire skills and now run thriving businesses nationwide.

General Ahmed encouraged active participation in camp activities, particularly stressing the significance of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, designed to equip Corps Members with practical skills for entrepreneurship.

Emphasizing the importance of discipline, General Ahmed cautioned against engaging in vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and hooliganism, stressing that offenders would face appropriate prosecution.

He urged Corps Members to wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to national service and contribute to the development of their deployed states.

Meanwhile, Onifade Joshua, NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, commended the state government for ongoing infrastructure development at the camp, including the completion of the second phase of the perimeter fence and the provision of 1,000 mattresses.

He praised the discipline exhibited by Corps Members since their arrival at the camp.

At the time of the Director General’s visit, a total of 1,420 Corps Members, comprising 695 males and 725 females, had been registered.
