Faculty members from each area independently review applications and provide recommendations for admission and funding.

These recommendations are then evaluated by a department-wide committee, which makes the final decisions on funding offers.

Requirements for the University of Florida Scholarship

To be considered for the University of Florida Scholarship 2024, admissions are evaluated based on the following factors:

  • Undergraduate Preparation:

    • Completion of at least one course in statistics.
    • Completion of at least one course in each of the following areas of psychology:
      • Biological Bases: Physio, sensory, or comparative.
      • Developmental Changes: Child/adolescent or lifespan.
      • Learning and Cognition: Behavioral analysis or cognitive processes.
      • Sociocultural/Individual Differences: Social, personality, or abnormal psychology.

    Recent entering graduate classes had an average GPA of 3.8 for the last two years. Applicants with an overall GPA below 3.0 will be considered only under special circumstances.

  • Letters of Recommendation

Benefits of University of Florida Scholarship

All first-year students receive funding, with support available for up to five years for those making satisfactory progress in the program. Assistantships are granted based on demonstrated or potential teaching ability, research and technology skills, or other specialized expertise.

Graduate teaching and research assistants typically receive a waiver for both in-state and out-of-state tuition. They also receive a stipend of $25,000 for a 12-month appointment, along with a tuition waiver, available for each of the first four years.
